MCF Recruitment are delighted to be working with a very successful, independent Accountancy firm in Wallsend, Tyne and Wear. Established in 2004, our Client is a well-known firm who serves both private Clients and Companies in Wallsend and the surrounding areas, including Newcastle and South Shields. Alongside general accountancy services such as bookkeeping and payroll, they also offer specialist taxation services, such as tax investigation fees insurance.As part of ongoing growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time, qualified and experienced Accountant/Tax Assistant into the Wallsend Office.

The role involves working with other staff members and reporting directly to the Management. You will be working with a friendly, growing team, whilst managing your own Client portfolio.



  • Practice experience - minimum of 4 years' experience in a similar role is essential

  • AAT L4 qualification & ACCA/CIMA

  • Experience with Sage and Taxcalc software is essential

  • Strong statutory accounts experience and personal tax knowledge is also essential

  • The ability to work quickly, accurately and to deadlines and a strong eye for detail

  • Excellent time management and organisational skills

  • A con-do attitude combined with a flexible approach to work



  • Preparing annual accounts and company tax returns

  • Management accounts on a monthly/quarterly basis

  • VAT return preparation

  • Preparation of sole trader and partnership tax returns

  • Dealing with client queries via telephone and email

  • Ad-hoc duties as requires
